Hawks collect toys for children in need

Student and teachers with toys collected during the holiday season

Higley Traditional Academy’s third-grade team used the holiday season to put together a service-learning project for the entire school.

The winter toy-drive led to the donation of 386 gifts for children in need. Lori Pascual's first-grade class donated the most gifts and will earn a donated pizza party for their work.

Third-grade teacher Jessica D’Ambrosio, who led the efforts, believes in putting together these projects to provide opportunities for children to help children.

“The gifts were delivered to Every Kid Counts, an organization that sponsors a toy drive for children of homeless, military, adopted or poor families across the Valley,” she said.
