Bridges Elementary School Principal:
Mrs. Sherry Richards
Experience: Mrs. Richards joined the Higley Unified School District in 2011, and is currently completing her fourth year as the principal of Power Ranch Elementary. During Mrs. Richards’ time at Power Ranch, the campus has become one of the highest achieving schools in the State of Arizona.
Prior to moving to Arizona, Mrs. Richards had sixteen years of experience in Texas where she taught elementary students, as well as students with hearing impairments, acted as a curriculum specialist, assistant principal, and early childhood principal. In addition to her work in the classroom and as an administrator, Mrs. Richards worked as an Inclusion Specialist for Amarillo Community College, acted as a student-teacher supervisor for West Texas A & M University, worked in Amarillo Independent School District’s personnel department, and taught sign language (MSS Morphemic Sign System) classes. Since arriving in Arizona, she has served on the Higley Unified School District’s "Meet and Confer" team and has served on committees to select new principals and the district’s current superintendent.
Education: Mrs. Richards received her bachelor’s degrees in Deaf Education and Elementary Education from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. She holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.
