My name is Jana Hales and I am a Brilliant Beginnings teacher at the Elona P. Cooley Early Childhood Development Center. I am so excited to get to know all of you! I graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Psychology and later went on to complete a post-bachelor program in Early Childhood and Special Education. I also completed a Structured English Immersion Endorsement. I spent many years teaching preschool from my home and working as a substitute teacher while raising my four boys. In my spare time I enjoy bike riding, going on walks, gardening, and spending time with my family.
I am looking forward to working with you and your child. I believe the preschool years are some of the most important in a child's life and I will work hard to teach the children in my classroom and empower them with the love of learning. Our classroom is a hands-on, active learning environment. A literacy based curriculum and early childhood state standards guide the planning of our activities. Instruction in our classroom is both teacher-directed and child-directed. Our structured classroom routine encourages active involvement, meaningful experimentation, and reinforcement through repetition.
A great parent-teacher relationship begins with communication. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns at any time. I will also do my part by sending out a newsletter via email each week to update you on what we have been learning in our class.
